     Francis Ann Bennett, was born on 20 May 1930 at Poteau, Oklahoma.3

Francis Ann Bennett married William C. Stevens, son of William Adkins Stevens and Avia Turney, on 21 May 1956.2

Francis Ann Bennett died on 6 August 2016 at Mountain View Advanced Care Facility, Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, at age 86. Her obituary read as follows:
On the morning of August 6, 2016, Frances passed away at the Moutain View Advanced Care Facility after a long battle with cancer.

She was comforted by her son, her daughter and daughter's husband, and her niece at the time of her passing.

Frances Ann (Bennett) Stevens was born on May 20, 1930 in Porteau, Oklahoma.

She was only a few years old when her family moved to Silver City, NM, where she lived until she went away to college at UNM.

After college she spent a brief time in California before moving to Las Cruces, where she met her husband, Bill Stevens.

Frances started her career in education in Las Cruces as a 2nd grade teacherfor the public schools. After some years at teaching, she moved into a school counselor role, then in to Administration, running early child education and federal programs for LCPS.

After retiremen,t she ran fo,r and was elected to the NM State School Board where she served two terms.

Frances was a selfless, very positive person, and passionate about her community, specifically about children's education in Las Cruces and the state of New Mexico.

In her private life, Frances loved to travel and experience new places, people and cultures.

She was a supporter of the arts, and she loved NMSU Aggie basketball.

Frances was wealthy in friends and many people who loved and respected her.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Click. Her son, Will Stevens, his wife Michelle, and their son Wesley.

Her daughter, Sarah, and Sarah's husband, Justin.

Sarah's daughter Taylor and Taylor's fiance, Brandon Miera.

Sarah's son Kyle, his wife Kylie, and their daughter Annabeth.

A funeral service will be held for Frances on Wednesday, August 10th at 10:00 am with a reception following at
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 518 N. Alamedia Blvd. Las Cruces, NM 88005.
