John Battenfeld, son of Johan Philipp Battenfeld and Susannah (?), was born in 1766.1 John Battenfeld was the son of Johan Philipp Battenfeld and Susannah (?)1,2

J. E. Litzenberg, in a letter dated May 3, 1951, and located in the files at the Cornerstone Genealogical Society in Waynesburg, PA, writes that there were two John Bottenfields who came from Virginia into Greene County, PA. He suggests that each of the brothers who came from Germany had a son John. If that conjecture is correct, and I believe as of 12-10-01 that it is, then this is the John who went to Green Co, PA about 1810 and to Knox Co, Ohio in the 1830's. This is not verified information at this point, though it is further substantiated by researcher Richard Parks.1,2
