     Bina Ruth Brown, daughter of Rufus Brown and Nebraska Eleanor Roselle Welborn, was born on 13 March 1921 at Laurel, Jones County, Mississippi.1 Bina Ruth Brown was the daughter of Rufus Brown and Nebraska Eleanor Roselle Welborn.1

Bina Ruth was a concert violinist and played in the Jackson, Mississippi, orchestra for many many years. She never married. She may have taken care of her mother in her elder years. At least she did travel with her as there are family photos of her with her mother in Denver and SanAntonio.2     

Bina Ruth Brown appeared on the United States census of 1940 in the household of Nebraska Eleanor Roselle Welborn at Laurel, Jones County, Mississippi.3

BINA RUTH BROWN Bina Ruth Brown, 85, of Laurel, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Liberty Cemetery in Stringer. The Rev. John Novic will officiate. She was born March 13, 1921, to Nebraska and Rufus Brown. She was a member of Worldwide Church of God. She was employed with United Gas Co. in Jackson as an accountant for 30 years. A gifted musician, she played the viola with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra for 30 years. Upon retirement, she played with the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony and was an active member of the McDowell Music Club in Jackson. During World War II, she worked for the public health system in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed playing in the string ensemble at the Rev. Parker Marshall's church. Family and friends will remember her gentle heart that served others so willingly. She is survived by a sister, Eleanor Ann Landrum of Laurel, and a brother, Kenneth T. "Bud" Brown of Petal. Pallbearers will be Darrell Landrum, Merrill Landrum, Sammy Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Michael Brown and Gerald Parish. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. today, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.4 and was buried at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Stringer, Jasper County, Mississippi.5
