     John Bottomfield, son of Adam Bottomfield and Mary Litzenberg, was born on 1 October 1823 at Morgan Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.1,2 John Bottomfield was the son of Adam Bottomfield and Mary Litzenberg.1

John Bottomfield married Rachel Heaton, daughter of Aaron Heaton and Barbara Bottomfield, circa 1845.1

In 1850, John Bottomfield appeared on the United States Census, at Morgan Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.3

On 8 July 1860, John Bottomfield appeared on the United States Census, at English River, Keokuk County, Iowa.4

John Bottomfield married Lucy Jenkins after 1864.1

On 23 July 1870, John Bottomfield appeared on the United States Census, at South English, English River Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, There are two others listed in this household, C lara E., age 16 and George E., age 14. This researcher conjectures that these are children of Lucy Bottenfield from a previous marriage. They are listed after the younger Bottenfield children and were not in the household in 1860 when John's deceased wife Rachel was still living.5

John Bottomfield died on 31 December 1894 at Columbus Junction, Louisa County, Iowa, at age 71.1,2
