     George Welborn, son of Jefferson Ganes Welborn and Margaret Jane Walters, was born on 22 April 1881 at Jones County, Mississippi.1 George Welborn was the son of Jefferson Ganes Welborn and Margaret Jane Walters.1

George Welborn married Hipolita Rodriguez.2

According to researcher Arturo Castro, a grandson, "George Welborn joined the U.S. Army as a Third Leutenant assigned to the Corp of Engineeers and was posted to the new American colony of what was then called the Philippine Islands (Islas Filipinas) a former Spanish Colony won as part of the Spanish-American War Settlement as provided for in the Treaty of Paris."2

From Arturo Castro, a grandson, "Except for a brief period between the end of WW2 (when he was interned in a Japanese concentration camp) and 1955, when he lived for medical reasons in Los Angeles; George was to live most of his life in the Philippines. He had become ill with diseases he got in concentration camp and was repatriated in 1946 for Medical reasons. He came back for a brief period around 1955 and then had to return to the states for Medical care."2

George Welborn died circa 1960 at Manilla, Phillipines.2 and was buried at Welborn Family Mausoleum, Manila Memorail Park, Manila, Phillipines. Researcher Arturo Castro states "Upon his death in Manila around 1960, he was given a state funeral as the lone survivor of the original founders of the Philippine Constabulary (today’s National Police).2 "
