     Jacob Ullom, was born circa 1804 at Greene County, Pennsylvania.1,2

"Buckhill Bottom settlement was made in 1794 by Robert McEldowney, soon followed by Jacob Ullom and others." This Jacob Ullom may actually been the son of the Jacob Ullom mentioned in this entry.3

Jacob Ullom married Margaret Mitchell, daughter of Thomas Mitchell Sr. and Eleanor Hill, circa 1852.1

Jacob Ullom died on 6 April 1879 at Swan Township, Vinton County, Ohio.4,8 and was buried at Elk Fork Cemetery, Elk Township, Vinton County, Ohio. Cemetery is just east of SR93, north of McArthur on top of a hill on TR14.4

Jacob Ullom left a will in 1879 at Vinton County, Ohio, "The following is a true copy of the last will and testament of Jacob Ullom deceased: In the name of the Benevolent Father of all; Jacob Ullom of McArthur, Vinton County Ohio, being of sound mind and desirous of settling my affairs, do make and publish this my last will and testament, to wit -

Item 1st. It is my will that all my just debts, and all legal claims against my estate for funeral and other expenses be first paid.

Item 2nd. I give and bequethe to Drusilla, widow of my late son, George: the sum of two hundred (200) dollars; and to each of her five children: to wit Sarah Dillon, Lydia Bratten, Margaret Johnson, Nancy Rosen and George Ullom, the sum of one hundred (100) dollars, (being 500 in all to said children.)

Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Ullom and to his son Albert Ullom, all the residue of my estate, after the payment of my debts, and the funeral expenses and other costs and expenses by law chargeable upon my said estate and the bequests aforesaid.

I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Jesse Ullom as executor of this my last will and testament and to authorize and empower him to adjust, compromise and collect in such manner as he may deem proper, all debts and claims that are or may be due me..."

The Vinton County Probate Court had the original will, receipts for expenses, receipts from the heirs, etc. His casket was $25 and the headstone was $57.9
