This is Seth Granberry Travis. The photo was sent to me by Jane Embrose, another of his descendents.
     Seth Granberry Travis, son of Ezekial Stafford Travis and Martha Jane Granberry, was born on 26 January 1822 at Amite County, Mississippi. Seth Granberry Travis was the son of Ezekial Stafford Travis and Martha Jane Granberry.

There is some different information offered concerning this Seth Travis in "Who Married Whom in Jasper Co., MS. Both Mary Collins Landin and the Embrose database agreed, however.

In 1850, Seth Granberry Travis appeared on the United States Census, at Jasper County, Mississippi.2

Seth Granberry Travis married Martha A. J. Colbert on 4 March 1850 at Jasper County, Mississippi.3

Seth Granberry Travis married Almira Lou Colson Barbour, daughter of Noah Barbour and Mary Susan Moore, on 26 May 1853 at Jasper County, Mississippi.3

In 1860, Seth Granberry Travis appeared on the United States Census, at Jasper County, Mississippi.4

Seth Granberry Travis began military service on 30 September 1862. 5th Mississippi Infantry, Company B.5,6

He ended military service on 22 September 1863. The 5th Mississippi Infantry, Company B was disbanded..6

In 1870, Seth Granberry Travis appeared on the United States Census, at Claiborne, Jasper County, Mississippi.7

In 1880, Seth Granberry Travis appeared on the United States Census, at Jasper County, Mississippi.8

Seth Granberry Travis left a will on 3 April 1893 at Jasper County, Mississippi, State of Mississippi, County of Jasper

I, Seth Travis of Jasper County and State of Mississippi affor being of sound mind and disposing memory make this my last Will.

I give devise and bequeath all my Estate and property real and personal as follows, subject only to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentaries expenses and the charges of registering and ___this my will.

I direct that all my estate real and personal be turned into actual money as soon as same can be done with least detriment and to the best advantage of my said estate I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lou Ella Ann Parker Seventy five dollars $75. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lelia Pearl Travis three Hundred dollars $300. I give and bequeath the remainder of my estate after the satisfaction of the forging legacies unto my beloved wife Almira C. Travis and my daughters Carrie Bell Travis, Lillie Pearl Travis and Mary Susan McCoy and the share of the last four mentioned shall be as follows to wit: My daughter Mary Susan McCoy shall have ten per cent 10% of the estate and property mentioned in the paragraph and the remainder of some shall be equally divided among my said beloved wife Almira C. Travis, Carrie Belle Travis and Lillie Pearl Travis said Lillie Pearl Travis to have the benefit of the primaries of this paragraph over and above the request of Three Hundred dollars unto her in the foregoing paragraph said shares to be paid along as my said estate can be turned into actual money. I do nominate and appoint my sons Enoch U. Travis and Thomas M. Travis to be the executors of this my last will and testament. And the said Executors shall not be required to give hand for the faithful performance of said trust and I hereby clothe them with discretionary power to manage the windup of my estate and in converting same into actual money and they may act jointly or seperately and the acts of either acting above shall be valid and the necessary expenses of said executors expended in winding up this my estate shall be paid them out of my estate.

In witness whereof I have signed published and declared this instrument as my will in said county and state this 3rd day of April A.D. 1873.

Seth Granberry Travis died on 7 September 1893 at Jasper County, Mississippi, at age 71. and was buried at Old Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery west of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Jasper County, Mississippi.5,11

An obituary in the Paulding newspaper Wednesday, October 4, 1893 reads:

     Seth Travis was born January 22, 1822 in Perry County, MS and moved to Jasper Co. when a young man. He was married to Miss Martha, daughter of A.J. Colbert, March 14, 1850. She died about a year later. On May 26, 1853 he married Miss Almira P. Barber. He died September 7, 1893. A member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He leaves a wife - Almira, 4 sons, 5 daughters, 1 brother and 2 sisters.3
