     William Travers, son of William Travers and Margaret Preston, was born in 1515 at Nateby, Tulketh, Lancashire, England.2 William Travers was the son of William Travers and Margaret Preston.1

Sixty one years after the Conquest, the religious establishment at Tulketh was removed to Dalton, and taking the name of the district, Furness Abbey, contributed to the prosperity of the town. The Abbey was purchased from the crown by Thomas Preston, who got it with other estates of the value of three thousand pounds per annum.1

William Travers married Dorothy Preston, daughter of Thomas Preston and Ann Thornburgh, in 1530 at Lancashire, England.1

William Travers died on 24 July 1558 at Nateby, Tulketh, Lancashire.2
