     Bessie Lee Stevens, daughter of William Archie Stevens and Anna Bell Travis, was born on 26 September 1903 at Bay Springs, Jasper County, Mississippi.1 Bessie Lee Stevens was the daughter of William Archie Stevens and Anna Bell Travis.

Her obituary read as follows:
"Bessie Fulton

Funeral services for Bessie Fulton, 97, were held on September 16, 2001 at Tilghman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fulton died at her residence in Louisville on September 14, 2001.

She was a retired teacher who taught at Calhoun, Noxapater and Louisville until 1967 when she retired from teaching in Mississippi

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Louisville where she taught Sunday School in the Beginner's Department for 45 years. After having moved away, she returned to Louisville in 1973 and lived the rest of her life in her home on Johnson Street. In recent years, because of her health condition, her primary givers were Doard Bell Gregory and Majorie Lewis.

Survivers include a step-son, S. D. Fulton of Edingurg; nephew, Charles R. Mayfield, Jr. of Jackson; Niece, Joanne Dalton of Albuquerque, NM and many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Rev. Arthur Storey officiated at the service with burial in Bay Springs Cemetery in Jasper County, near Bay Springs.

(In 1967 Bessie Stevens Fulton moved to Bayou LaBatre, Alabama to teach. Upon retirement from there in 1973 she received a proclamation from the Mayor of the City, for the Excellency of her teaching and shaping the lives of children. He also expressed his deep appreciation for the outstanding service she did for their school and community.)"6
