     In the Elk Mountain Pilot on April 29, 1916 we read: "Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sorrel are rejoicing over the advent of a fine daughter who arrived last Saturday.2 George Edmund Sorrell, son of George Sorrell and Sarah Frances Brown, was born in June 1896 at Redstone, Pitkin County, Colorado.3,4,5 George Edmund Sorrell was the son of George Sorrell and Sarah Frances Brown.1,5 He was also known as Edward The Arnott Family always refered to him as Ed Sorrell..6

George Edmund Sorrell appeared on the United States census of 1900 in the household of George Sorrell at Pitkin County, Colorado.7

George Edmund Sorrell appeared on the United States census of 1910 in the household of George Sorrell.8

George Edmund Sorrell married Helen Monro Arnott, daughter of John Hunter Arnott and Helen Monro, on 21 June 1915 at Gunnison County, Colorado, The marriage was performed by E.H. Robinson and was witessed by Sophia Beitler and Joe Arnott. Joe was a brother of the bride. The Beitler family lived in Crested Butte.9,10

George Edmund Sorrell and Helen Monro Arnott lived on 10 July 1915 at Irwin, Gunnison County, Colorado. There was a note in the Irwin Notes of the Elk Mountain Pilot which states: "The newlyweds, Ed Sorrel and his wife, are domiciled for the summer in one of the cottages on the Queen mine road above main street."

There is no longer a town at the site of Irwin, only several crumbling building foundations. It was in a rugged falley nine miles of north of Crested Butte.11,12

The Elk Mountain Pilot states on Thursday, May 8, 1918: "Ed Sorrell left Tuesday for California where he will join his mother who has the care of his little daughter. Mr. Sorrell intends working in the oil fields in that state."13

In 1920, George Edmund Sorrell appeared on the United States Census, at Crested Butte, Gunnison County, Colorado, Listed as a Boarder with Thomas and Sarah Campbell, occupation, Driver in the coal mine.14

George Edmund Sorrell appeared on the United States census of 1930 in the household of Sarah Frances Brown at Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado.15

George Edmund Sorrell died on 24 June 1960 at Santa Clara County, California.16
