From 12 April 1870 Spirit of Democracy: "Died at the residence of his son in Brownsville, on Monday April 4, Thomas Mitchell, aged 66 years, 3 mos. He leaves an aged widow and a circle of friends."2 He was buried at Antioch Cemetery, Antioch, Monroe County, Ohio.4
