     Green Berry Merrill, son of Abel Merrill and Eliza Cooley, was born on 21 October 1835 at Jasper County, Mississippi. Green Berry Merrill was the son of Abel Merrill and Eliza Cooley.

He served in the Confederate States Army and was a Private in Company K, 37th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers. Green Berry died during his service in the war, in camp near Columbus, Mississippi.4

Green Berry Merrill died on 22 June 1862 at Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi, at age 26. He died in camp during the Civil War.5,1 and was buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Heidelberg, Jasper County, Mississippi.4
