     Benjamin Elam, son of John Elam and Jane (?), was born circa 9 August 1818 at Birstall, Yorkshire, England.2 Benjamin Elam was the son of John Elam and Jane (?).1

Benjamin Elam married Nancy France circa 1844.3

In Memoirs of Iowa County it is reported that Benjamin and his wife Nancy had 10 children.4

It is said that Benjamin and his wife Nancy set sail for the United States in 1850 and went directly to Dodgeville in July of that year. There they farmed and made their home.4
